Sue Mitchell, MD

I began practicing gastroenterology in 1996, when I moved to Colorado Springs. Over the past 23 years, I have witnessed the life-saving innovations brought to patients through pharmaceuticals and advancing technology.

However, I have also heard the cries from my patients that want to understand the root cause of their illness and want therapies outside of medications.

As a board-certified gastroenterologist and internist, the emerging research regarding our gut microbiome and its link to health and disease fascinates me. I was so intrigued with the microbiome that I decided to become trained in functional medicine.

I am certified in both Anti-Aging Medicine and Weight Management through the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M) and completed advanced training in anti-aging, peptide management, and weight management through A4M. I also completed trainings in Gastroenterology and Cardiovascular Health through The Institute for Functional Medicine.

My approach to medicine is one that emphasizes whole body healing through microbiome healing. I will work with you to identify underlying problems of your symptoms and fix the symptoms at the root cause. I then will ensure we find a way to maintain your health beyond just our time together.
