IBS Smart Test
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is an intestinal disorder that causes a variety of uncomfortable symptoms including belly pain, gas, diarrhea, and constipation.
IBS-Smart is a blood test that is performed at Gutwell Medical that measures specific antibodies that signify small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
These biomarkers are elevated in a majority of IBS patients with diarrheal symptoms and can diagnose diarrhea-predominant or mixed-type IBS (IBS-D or IBS-M). These biomarkers are not commonly elevated in patients with constipation predominant IBS (IBS-C).
Only a licensed physician can order IBS-Smart and diagnose IBS.
